Troubleshooting
Common Lock Issues
The lock will not close
The lock may not close when the incorrect combination is displayed, even if the case is already open.
- Display the correct combination before closing the lock.
- Centre each number precisely on the indicator line.
- Confirm that the reset switch has returned fully.
- Check that the locking tabs are correctly aligned.
- Make sure the lid is sitting evenly.
- Check that no knives, tools, foam or accessories are obstructing the case.
Do not force the lock closed. Excessive pressure may damage the locking mechanism.
The lock will not open
- Confirm that you are using the correct combination.
- Centre all three numbers exactly on the indicator line.
- Check that a dial has not stopped between two numbers.
- Apply gentle pressure to the release rather than forcing it.
- Move each dial slightly forwards and backwards while applying light pressure to the release.
I have forgotten the combination
The combination cannot be reset from the outside while the case is locked. The existing combination must first be identified.
Method 1: Test Every Combination
Begin at 000 and test each combination in order:
000, 001, 002, 003 ... 999
Apply light pressure to the lock release while testing each combination. Testing all possible combinations normally takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
Method 2: Find the Combination by Feel
- Apply light and steady pressure to the lock release.
- Slowly rotate the first number dial.
- Feel for a slight click, change in resistance or subtle movement.
- Repeat the process for the second and third dials.
- Test the possible combination.
The difference can be subtle, so this method may require several attempts.
One lock works, but the other does not
Each lock operates independently. Setting the combination on one lock does not automatically set the other.
Repeat the setup process separately for each lock. The two locks may use the same combination or different combinations.
The combination changed unexpectedly
This may happen if the reset switch was moved while the number dials were being turned.
- Try the previous combination.
- Try the new combination you intended to set.
- Test nearby numbers in case one dial moved during setup.
- Use the forgotten-combination methods above if required.
Lock care and maintenance
- Keep the number dials free from dust and debris.
- Avoid forcing the release mechanism.
- Do not close the lock while an incorrect combination is displayed.
- Keep the case dry and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
- Test both locks before travelling with the case.
